William OBrien Walk

The woodland walk was created in 2015 and dedicated to the late William O’Brien who donated the three and a half acre site to the parish for the purpose of installing a Grotto some fifty years earlier.

The William O’Brien woodland walk is a looped track spanning the upper level of the site and measures 365 metres. It incorporates some steep inclines in the natural terrain and rises a total of about 6 meters over the course of the path.

Along the way you will come across seating in different areas where you can rest and enjoy nature around you. There are also a number of environmental information signs in the area.

A bug hotel and lifelike animal sculptures remind you that wildlife are never too far away. We ask that people stay on the path so as not to interfere with the habitats of the local fauna and flora. Dogs must always be kept on a leash and under control.

Children love to peer into the windows of the many fairy houses along the woodland walk, and there’s a woodland play area at the end of the walk to entertain them.
