2021 saw a huge array of new yarn bombing items arrive in Monageer Grotto for the summer extravaganza.  Despite not being able to meet for the whole year because of the Covid 19 pandemic, the Knitwits had toiled away tirelessly for the year to create some amazing pieces.

One of the highlights of the year was the display of Fairy Tale Scenes which was very popular with kids and adults alike.  Enniscorthy Library came on board with us and used our displays as inspiration for their weekly broadcasts in conjunction with their summer reading programme.

When our Blue Spring Path had faded to green, it was taken over by a large selection of mythical creatures and became a magical walk through the enchanted trees.  From goblins to gnomes. From fairies to flowers. From Pegasus to Pokemon.  From mushrooms  to mermaids.  Not to mention the dragons!

Each year we do a biodiversity feature around each of our environmental information signs.  This year we concentrated on the Painted Lady butterfly, the Nettle, the Ladybird, the Holly tree, the Red Squirrel, and the Barn Owl.

Of course there were loads of trees wrapped in colourful and tactile ‘jumpers’, our Zoo was back, and we even had our 5-a-day tree (who knew vegetables grew on trees!).

You can see more images from this year’s yarn bombing in the GALLERY page.  Plans are already under way for next year!
